Screams for Help

Walking the road back to Vogler. Up ahead shouts for help can heard. Suddenly a young man bursts around the corner in a full run. Screaming for help. Stumbling with the exhaustion as the adrenaline fades from sprinting for his life. As he collapses in front of Keanu & Varko.

They pick him up from the dirt and question the frantic farm boy. The boys eyes shooting back the corner he just rounded, with an expectation that his attackers would emerge into sight at any moment. He stutters to get out that they'd been ambushed. Beckoning for the group to come to their aid. As they turn towards the corner the farm boy shows enthusiastic appreciation and tells them his name is Rhys.

Ambushed

The group makes their way forward. Keanu climbing his way up a tree for a potential better view. Spotting a wrecked wagon in the distance and the motionless frame of some soldiers.

Making their way around the corner, as the smashed wagon appears, Rhys dives for the edge of the woods. The two each choose a side of the trail and sneak up on the cloaked figures. The group sneaks up closer and prepares to attack. As Keanu reaches for his sword to cast his spell, the cloaked figure turns revealing their true identity.

Fighting Ensues

Keanu casts the first shot. Striking the drakonic figure, who recoils with shock of being attacked. Screeching in draconic, two cloaked drakonis figures appear between the larger drakonis. Greyish and green, wings leaking out of the cloak. They advance on Keanu, spotting Varko as they get within 30 feet. Two additional drakonis turn and flee with the larger drakonis.

Varko closes in on the advancing drakonis, landing a masterful blow with his longsword. Keanu sprints into far range and throws his dagger. As the dagger returns to his hand, the drakonis turns to stone. An eerie gas emits from the petrified corpse. Varko dodges to the side. Standing up right in front of the second drakonis. A sword smashes into Varko, as the drakonis lands a blow. Recoiling Varko twists his body landing a crippling blow. Just a dagger flies past his face, the hilt of the dagger hitting the drakonis, and returning to Keanu's hand.

Keanu closes the gaps, as the drakonis turns his sight on the approaching Ribbet. Catching Keanu in surprise, as he feels the drakonis's blade cut into his flesh around the mid section. A quick turn and returning the blow Keanu slashes his dagger across the face and throat of the drakonis. The force of the energy exerted in the attack spins ribbet back to the falling drakonis.

As the drakonis hits the ground and is turned to stone the same eerie gas is emitted. Both Varko and Keanu leap away from the the body. Standing and looking for additional foes. Those who had fled have long left their sight.

Clues and Truths

Searching the wagon and the slain soldiers, Keanu finds 4 bags of gold. He and Varko are also quick to notice that these are not merely soldiers, but are instead Knights of Solamnia. Their armor is slashed and crushed from the fight. Keanu quickly questions what would lead three knights to this part of the Kalaman Region. Questioning Rhys about the intentions of the knights, he overhead them talking about enemy forces amassing in the area. To only send three scouts, the knights either early in their inquiry or gave little weight to the rumors.

Picking up the armor from what is now a pile of dust where the drakonis lay, the unmistakable symbol of Thakisis. These are followers? Acolytes? of the dragon queen. Questions still linger as to why they'd be in these remote regions. Keanu packs up the symbol and they agree to lead Rhys home. before making their way to Vogler.
